Dani is the first film of many that will revolve around motherhood, the special relationship between mother and daughter, and the absence of a father. The film attempts to portray all sides of a broken family, and maybe to realize that no one is doing the ”right thing” in a conflict.
Disa Östrand, born 1986, is a Swedish actress now debuting as a writer/director. Educated at the prestigious Gothenburg academy of Music and Drama, she has since acted in multiple films and tv productions. Two upcoming feature films had Disa in the leading role, “Shop”, dir Jesper Klevenås, and most recently the Serbian/Swedish co-production “Balkan Noir", dir Drazen Kuljanin.
Disa recently won first price in a pitch-competition with her next short film The Lido, (which is in pre-production), held by Stockholm International Film Festival. She was listed number one in a new years list for ”creators to keep an eye on in 2019” by a major Swedish newspaper. Dani is her first film as a creator and director.
