Filmed entirely from the perspective of a 4 year old, five young girls compete to be crowned Mini Miss Baby Brasil. The film provides a unique insight into early childhood experiences and children’s innate capacity for resistance in a world dominated by adult norms & desires.
Rachel Daisy Ellis is a British-Brazilian producer/writer/director based in Recife, Northeast Brazil. She is co-founder of the Desvia that produced films such a Housemaids & Neon Bull. Films she has produced have all been screened in competition at important festivals including IDFA, Rotterdam, Venice, Locarno & Toronto, winning over 100 awards and critical acclaim. MINI MISS is her first film as director, part of an experimental project that involves two more short documentaries exploring early childhood experiences in spaces dominated by adult norms.
